Fermentation Workshop
Join me for a 3-hour, hands-on fermentation workshop at The Mead Farm in Redwick, South Wales.
You’ll make two different ferments from scratch:
- Kimchi — with the flavour and heat adjusted to your taste
- Sauerkraut — choosing from different vegetable and flavour combinations
We’ll start with a guided tasting so you can experience different flavours and stages of fermentation before making your own.
What you’ll learn
You’ll learn the principles behind safe, successful vegetable fermentation, including:
- How to prepare vegetables for fermentation
- How to calculate and use the correct salt ratio
- How salt, temperature and time affect fermentation
- How to keep vegetables properly submerged
- How to recognise the signs of a healthy fermentation
- How flavour develops as a ferment matures
- How to look after your ferments at home and know when they’re ready to eat
The workshop gives you a practical understanding of the fermentation process, equipping you with the knowledge and techniques to create your own ferments confidently at home.
What’s included
All ingredients and equipment are provided, along with a guided tasting and printed workshop notes.
You’ll leave with two 1.5L airlock jars containing the kimchi and sauerkraut you’ve made, plus the knowledge to continue fermenting at home. You’ll also have follow-up support after the workshop while your ferments develop.
